The International Association of Medical Equipment Remarketers and Servicers, founded in 1993, is dedicated to creating a professional, secondary market by bringing together leading dealers, leassors, refurbishers and services committed to ethics and professionalism. Member companies represent a wide variety of medical specialties but are bound together by their commitment to IAMERS' written and enforceable Code of Ethics and Professionalism in the Diagnostic Imaging industry.
About IAMERS

Working closely with the US Food & Drug Administration and the US Department of Commerce, IAMERS helps ensure that pre-owned medical equipment remains a trusted and valued alternative to expensive new equipment. In so doing, IAMERS helps meet the need for safe, reliable pre-owned equipment and the budget challenges of healthcare providers worldwide.

In the course of its work with the FDA and other parties, IAMERS has been a consistent advocate to preserve and enhance the right of healthcare providers to have choice in the selection of equipment and service vendors. IAMERS has steadfastly resisted the attempts of some OEMs to eliminate buyer's options by reducing competition from the pre-owned medical equipment marketplace.

Furthermore, the continued growth of an active, secondary market allows healthcare providers to receive real value from equipment they no longer require. And by providing a wealth of non-OEM alternatives for service and equipment acquisition, customers can realize operating efficiencies from the lower-cost alternatives and selection the secondary market provides.

IAMERS members are concerned about patient safety and customer satisfaction. As responsible buyers, sellers, lessors, refurbishers and servicers, members understand their responsibility to work closely with their customers to ensure universally high standards of quality. Yet, healthcare providers, both domestic and international, should know that if a problem arises in the course of their dealings with an IAMERS member, they have recourse through contacting the Association. IAMERS commitment to patient safety and customer satisfaction means the Association will do everything within its power to ensure the distribution of safe and properly represented medical equipment.

You can do business with confidence with members of IAMERS.

What Is IAMERS?

IAMERS is a unique trade association comprised of members who sell and/or service pre-owned diagnostic imaging equipment. IAMERS members range from small, regional businesses to large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s).

IAMERS represents its members with government regulatory organizations. It educates members on changing technologies, legislative initiatives that affect their business and medical imaging applications. It also provides broad-based business and legal expertise.

Not everyone is chosen to be an IAMERS member. Applicants must meet strict criteria for membership. All members must agree, in writing, to the IAMERS Code of Ethics. This Code is added assurance to buyers and sellers of pre-owned imaging equipment. Should a member be accused of an ethics violation, IAMERS works on behalf of both parties to resolve any disputes. Failing resolution IAMERS will conduct an ethics hearing. All members must agree to participate in ethics hearings. All members must agree to the findings of the Ethics Committee or risk expulsion from IAMERS.

Why Buy From an IAMERS Member?

Today we are faced with exploding health care costs and an aging population. IAMERS offer consumers of medical imaging technology an opportunity to choose vendors and save expenses. While some buyers may choose to buy from OEM’s, some may opt for regional service providers which can often save money. IAMERS members are among the most professional in the business of medical imaging. Most of our 3rd party service providers were educated by the OEM’s and are often previous OEM employees.

IAMERS believes that consumers should have the right to select their own vendors and service providers of pre-owned diagnostic imaging equipment. Without such options, the consumer has far fewer options when selecting equipment and service.

IAMERS members represent a wide variety of business skills. They span a wide range of imaging disciplines from ultrasound to nuclear medicine, from CT to MRI and other imaging modalities. IAMERS members sell, refurbish, remanufacture, service and broker the complete range of diagnostic imaging equipment.

If you buy or sell from an IAMERS member, you can have confidence that you are doing business with a knowledgeable professional. You should also know that you will be protected by the IAMERS Code of Ethics.

Why Become an IAMERS Member?

IAMERS is dedicated to keeping members up to date on legislative issues within our industry. We spend time in Washington, D.C. and Brussels, Belgium to make sure you are represented with the FDA and the European Health Ministry. We work with lobbyists and members of Congress to help you fairly compete within the industry.

While some OEM’s restrict access to pass codes and needed software – in defiance of the 21 CFR Regulations, IAMERS works to gain needed access for members. IAMERS believes that competition serves to enhance the market place and keeps costs down for consumers.

IAMERS also provides education for its members. We hold two annual meetings a year – one in the U.S. and one in Europe. We attend trade shows to educate consumers about IAMERS.

IAMERS is also the best networking forum within our industry. We host receptions at the RSNA and the ECR. This year we will also hold a reception at the Indian Radiology conference in New Delhi. These receptions help our members expand their marketing efforts around the world.

In order to become an IAMERS member you must be sponsored by a current member. We believe if you get to know IAMERS you will see the value of becoming a member.
