16th IAMERS Annual Meeting - San Juan
IAMERS members are back from San Juan, and the 16th IAMERS
Annual Meeting. The weather was beautiful and everyone seemed
to have a good time. By the end of our short time there, many had
excellent tans!
The presentations were very interesting, with a focus on Latin
America. We had speakers from Mexico and Chile, as well as a
presentation on the practical side of doing business in Latin
America.
Although everyone was itching to get outside on Saturday, I think
many ears perked up when we heard from the FDA. There will be
changes in our industry and regulation will be increasing. This
week IAMERS will release the final version of our position paper on
how we believe regulation should be handled. As I have stated
before, IAMERS is not against regulation. However, we want our
members to be treated fairly. All – including those who are small
businesses, must be able to comply.
My favorite talks in San Juan were Wayne Webster’s very
interesting chronology on the evolution of our industry. It tied in
nicely to what the FDA had to say.
I also found Pat Hiney’s presentation on financing deals in this
money-tight economy very insightful. How bankers and lenders
view the world, in the present moment, was very helpful.
