Highlights of the IAMERS European Meeting in Rome

Dr. Steen Lindequist of Curato presented his very interesting perspective as an independent imaging center in Europe. What was most interesting to me was the amount of work that an independent imaging facility does for the government – backing up the socialized medicine system. All socialized medicine in Europe is not the same. It can vary greatly from country to country.

We also had a panel discussion on financing equipment which included Simona Orsingher from Siemens Financial Services, Harry Khabra from Lundy Healthcare, and Rick Stockton from Atlas Medical Technologies. While we live in interesting times, financing equipment is certainly different today than it was a year ago.

Dave Kuehn from Dunlee gave us an informative presentation on controlling equipment life-cycle costs in today’s challenging business climate.

Wayne Webster spoke on technology, the economy and regulation. Wayne also chaired a panel discussion on the impact of increased regulation with regard to pre-owned equipment. As we all know, changes will be forth coming in both Europe and the U.S. which will greatly impact the delivery of pre-owned medical equipment.

In addition to the business sessions, we had a great venue for the social events. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather. Our two dinners were on the roof of the Grand Hotel de la Minerve, which offered spectacular views of Rome. Below are some of those great views.
